The Kindergarten

6th/7th October

This kindergarten was en route to Chernobyl & Pripyat and was inside the exclusion zone. There won’t be much text to read on this post, I will let the photos speak for themselves.

This kindergarten was basically, abandoned after the news that the accident had happened and was not returned to due to the obvious reasons of radiation and the risks involved.

Children’s toys and various items litter each room and names of children are displayed on shelves and beds remain unmade and unused. There is such an air of sadness that lingers in the air and the time we had to take it in was fleeting and never long enough.

More Kiev, Chernobyl and Pripyat photos are available via my Flickr stream here and will be added to in the future as my priorities for editing have taken a backseat recently plus a 4 man tour of Belgium Urbex is vastly approaching.

Thanks for reading.
